Everything you need to know about your first Hollywood wax

What is a Hollywood wax, exactly? There’s a bikini wax, where hair on the sides and top area along the bikini line are removed, and then there’s a Hollywood which leaves your entire pubic area bare . A Hollywood wax removes all the hair from your bikini area (top, sides, and front), and those hard-to-reach areas in the back. Simply put: everything goes. You can opt for a Brazilian leave a “landing strip” or a triangle, choice is up to you.

Does it hurt? Every person has different pain thresholds and so experience waxing differently, however with regular waxing most find it becomes easier as the hairs become thinner, lighter and sparser after a few treatments. Our specialised hot wax and expertly trained/experienced therapist makes waxing as pain-free as possible.

Is it done with discretion? Absolutely. Expect to remove your underwear but We can provide a towel that can be used to cover parts of the intimate area while waxing. The treatment does involve the client holding the skin in various places to help minimise discomfort but the therapist will lead you in this process.

What’s better: Hot wax or strip wax? We only use hot wax for our intimate waxing. When we use our hot wax on sensitive areas, we first apply an essential oil to the skin which acts as a barrier between the wax and the skin. Therefore, the wax is able to shrink wrap around the hair and will not stick to the skin. (Less tugging results in less pain!)

How can you prep for your wax? Allow at least 2 weeks growth. Wear loose-fitting clothes, and Relax!

Can you wax on your period? Absolutely! You will need to wear a freshly changed tampon before going into your treatment. (you may use our loo beforehand to freshen up).

How long does a wax last? All waxing is recommended between 4 to 6 weeks for full re-growth to be removed.

How do you care for your freshly-waxed skin afterwards? Avoid any sweaty activities, (yes this includes hanky panky) sun exposure, public pools, or jacuzzi, and showering with very hot water [immediately] after getting a wax.” It’s important to exfoliate every other day because you need to get that dead skin off the surface or it will get trapped into the hair follicles and block the hair from growing out. This is how ingrown hairs are created. We recommend using Lycon ingrow x it and soothing body cream at home.
